Slovenia lies at the heart Europe. It became an independent state in 1991 and has been a member of the European Union since May 1^st 2004. Euro was introduced as the state currency on Jan 1^st 2007. Slovenia borders Austria in the north, Croatia in the south, Hungary in the east and Italy in the west.

The Slovene currency is EUR.
All major credit cards (Mastercard-Eurocard, Visa, American Express, Diners etc.) are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and stores.
Banknote dispensers – ATM (Automatic Transaction Machines) are available for cash withdrawal with the aforementioned credit cards.
