Slovenian Association of Allergology and Clinical Immunology


Members of the Association: The Association currently has 150 members (internal medicine specialists, pediatricians, ENT specialists, occupational medicine specialists, basic immunologists).


Expert Meetings: two annual expert meetings, a congress with
international participation every four years.


Founded in: 1965


First president: Prof. Stanko Banic


The beggining of activities: Organized professional work has been done ever since April 1972 (the president was Prof. Janko Pompe, MD, PhD; ENT Clinic of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana).


1986: The management of the Association is taken over by the University Clinic of Respiratory and Allergic Diseases Golnik


Current president: Prof Mitja Košnik, MD, PhD;  University Clinic of Respiratory and Allergic Diseases Golnik (mitja.kosnik@klinika-golnik.si).


Topics of annual meetings:

  • Chronic urticaria and angioedema
  • Rare hypersensitivity disorders
  • Early therapy of allergic diseases: quality assurance in allergology
  • Aspirin intolerance and rhinitis
  • Severe asthma from immunological point of view

The Association works together with the University Clinic Gollnik, the University Children’s Hospital and the Department of Dermatovenerology of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, the Chair of Internal Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in the formation of medical doctrine in the areas of allergology and clinical immunology. It is also involved in the postgraduate education of doctors, and in the development of health network in the areas of allergology and clinical immunology.

The Association (co-)organizes congresses, symposia, courses, exhibitions and other expert meetings. In accordance with its Statue, the Association cooperates with the Slovenian Medical Association, Medical Chamber of Slovenia, and other associtations in the areas of allergology and clinical immunology in Slovenia and abroad (e.g. European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology).
