University Clinic Golnik as a Teaching Hospital

The University Clinic Golnik has been a teaching institution, mostly for under- and postgraduate medical students, since 1971 when it joined the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana. University professors mostly give lectures in pneumology and allergology as part of the lectures in internal medicine at medical faculties in Ljubljana and Maribor. Students from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana and from the College of Nursing in Jesenice undergo a clinical training programme at the hospital, mainly in clinical wards but also in diagnostic units and laboratories.

v The hospital organises various courses, workshops, seminars and other educational programmes for employees and external participants. Golnik Bronchoscopy School has been internationally renowned since 2001. In order to keep up to date with fast developments in the field, the hospital organises an annual "Golnik Symposium", a traditional professional meeting with internationally renowned speakers. This symposium focuses on current issues in pneumology and allergology. Patients and their families are educated in various courses organised by hospital nurses.
